Hello Stefanie. I am brand new to astrology and I am loving your podcast. I just discovered it a couple weeks ago, and I am making my way through the episodes. I will admit that I never used to believe in astrology, but because of your podcast, I am now fascinated by it! In the Chiron episode, you say, “If you have Chiron in the ____ house or in the sign of _____”, which made me wonder: when you look at a natal chart, what do you consider more important – the planets that are in a particular house, or the sign that house is in? I am struggling to understand what to look at first when reading a natal chart. As an example, on my birth chart, Chiron is in the 6th house and is in Aries. So I’m not sure what interpretation to use – Chiron in the sixth house or Chiron in Aries? I hope my question makes sense! Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, Sharon! Yes, your question does make perfect sense - I'm glad you asked. Both the house placement and the sign are important, and ideally we'd try to weave our interpretation of both of those things together to see how they are impacting us. That being said, it's also true that Chiron is a generational planet (or, rather, planetoid) - in other words, most everyone one born during the same several-year period is going to have the same Chiron sign (Chiron in Aries, btw, is an identity wound that has this particular generation of people - a sizable chunk of Gen X - looking at their sense of self, their level of independence, and their ability to assert themselves and/or their needs). So, the Chiron sign isn't completely unique to you alone, even though we all may feel it differently. The house placement, however, is unique to you. So, if I had to prioritize, I'd start there, with the house placement. You'll want to look at 6th house themes ... such as daily productivity, efficiency, work, service and contribution, health and wellness, routines, etc. and think about where/how an identity wound may be showing up in challenging ways as patterns in your life. The 6th house is also where you can find opportunities to work on your wounding and begin to find healing ... for example, through service to others, a set of daily routines that is fulfilling for you, or by focusing on wellness, etc. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I am super excited because I just received my long form birth certificate in the mail. Until today, I had no idea what time I was born. I did my natal chart with the accurate time of my birth, and it turns out my North Node and Chiron are both in the sixth house, with my North Node being in Pisces and Chiron being in Aries. Another surprising thing is that I have five planets in the 12th house: Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, the Sun, and Pluto. I can’t wait to listen to more of your podcast episodes to figure out what this all means! Thanks again.
